Solidarity with the German Communist Party (DKP)
The Communist Party of Armenia expresses its deepest concern regarding the recent undemocratic decision, taken by the Electoral Commission in the Federal Republic of Germany, to ban the participation of the German Communist Party (DKP) in the election to take place in September 2021.
The Communist Party of Armenia strongly condemns this act of transgression – an act which proves, once again, that capitalism exclusively serves the interests of local elites backed by world imperialism, thus stifling the interests and rights of the working-class and people at large.
Since the early 20th century, communists in Germany have faced a number of attempts by the state there to disrupt and terminate its legitimate and organised activities and operations. The murderous attack by the country’s far-right forces on the Spartacist workers’ uprising in 1919; the banning of the Communist Party of Germany (DKP) by the Nazis in 1933, and by the Adenauer administration in 1956; and the martyrdom of the likes of Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht, and Ernst Thälmann, are but a few examples. Yet their successors in the movement were able to overcome these various challenges and hold aloft their flag again, testament to the struggle’s strength and virtues. Thus, we are confident that our German comrades will overcome this new predicament.
The Communist Party of Armenia once again expresses its solidarity with the German Communist Party (DKP) and its struggle for peace and socialism.
Dear comrades, friends, brothers and sisters, you are not alone in facing your current adversaries… The entirety of the progressive forces around the world, representing tens of millions communists, including those within the ranks of the Communist Party of Armenia, stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the German Communist Party (DKP).
We wish you success in your struggle for peace, progress, and socialism!
